Can't Get Your Kids to Eat Veggies?

You here a lot of talk about kids will eat what their parents model. I am finding that to be a little unbelievable. We sit down and eat salads and veggies of all varieties at lunch and dinner, and it's still a battle at every meal.... well generally at least 2 out of 3. At first, I thought I would buy the new V8 juice with the added veggies for the kids. Too expensive for the size that you get, and my kids finish a bottle in 2 meals. So, I came up with my own version of a fruit and veggie smoothie and they loved it! I showed them exactly what I put into it, so that they can understand that veggies too can taste good!

In a blender add:

2 cups of frozen strawberries
1 medium banana
1 cup of raspberry/apple juice
1 scoop of raspberry sherbet
Handful of baby carrots
1 medium zucchini

Blend until smooth, and enjoy!

Just About There....

We are about to embark on our first year of homeschooling, and I am super excited! I have one more shipment to get anyday now, and then I will have all of our books. One thing that I have discovered, is that I don't really have an area to organize all of our supplies. So, I made our hall linen closet into our "school closet". It seems to be working out great!!!
For those of you with not a lot of space and don't really have a "school room" per say, I have found a table wipe/erase board from http://www.discountschoolsupply.com/ It is wonderful! I put it on my island and have the kids at the kitchen table. There is flannel on the other side as well.
Our first day of school will be soon, so keep stopping by!:)

Organizing Recipes

If you are like me, I have tons and tons of recipes laying around in piles. It always seems like I can never find the recipe that I want, when I want it. So, I have been working on going through each of my recipes, sorting out the ones that I like and throwing away the ones that our family didn't like. Then, I am compiling them into 3 ring notebooks with clear plastic page protectors, and putting them into categories, such as poultry, beef, crock pot, desserts, etc. I have my Top Secret Recipes in a separate notebook... Those are our family's favorites!!!:)

I like to use this form: http://organizedhome.com/printable-recipes-try-0 that way I can see what recipe I would like to try, and in what magazine to find them. Using this, I put a star by them if we like them or cross them off if we didn't like them.

There are a couple of other forms for recipe organization on the "Organized Home" website, that are really helpful as well.

Very first post ever!!

This is my very first post, so please bear with me as I am trying to figure this all out.:) The only thing that came to my mind first, to write about, was of course a recipe.:) So....

This is a yummy warm dip recipe that my husband really likes, and it's so simple to make.:) If you like hot wings, you are going to love this!! Just use with some chips or crackers and you are set:)

1 can of chicken breast
1 80z. package of cream cheese
Ranch dressing (bottled)
Louisiana hot sauce
1/4-1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Spread cream cheese on bottom of shallow baking dish. Then add chicken and a squeeze of dressing, followed by the hot sauce, and a bit of cheese. Bake 350, just until the cheese melts. Enjoy!!
